Why does electricity cost increase in winter?

During the winter, the electric pre-heater in the heat recovery ventilation unit operates to prevent the heat exchanger from freezing, making it impossible to turn off the pre-heater.

Increased electricity consumption may also result from clogged filters in the ventilation system or an unbalanced ventilation setup.

To reduce electricity consumption, we recommend:

• Replacing the filters
• Balancing the ventilation system if this has not already been done
• Reducing the speed of the heat recovery unit
